Foggy Otis plays ukulele. He found his way to the diminutive, four-stringed instrument after a life-threatening illness took away his ability to play guitar.  While many see the ukulele as a toy, a gimmick, a joke even, in Foggy’s hands it is truly an instrument capable of evoking a wide range of emotions and responses.

Approaching the ukulele from a perspective all his own, Foggy’s vocabulary ranges from delicately woven folk ballads to all out, fuzzed up rockers.

Having taught ukulele at Columbia-Greene Community College in Hudson, NY, Foggy currently resides in Connecticut where, in addition to teaching and performing he writes and produces tutorial videos for Ukulele magazine.

Christian Beach is a New Jersey-based singer-songwriter who has been part of the Jersey Shore music scene since the late 1980s. As the driving force behind several bands (Slave of Id, Artists That Kill, Ton of Bricks) from the early 1990s through early 2000s, he played some of New Jersey’s legendary clubs like the Green Parrot, The Stone Pony, The Brighton Bar, and The Fast Lane. In 2005, Beach spent some time playing keyboards and guitar for Transfusion M, a project fronted by Michael Ferentino (Love In Reverse, Dog), appearing on that band’s lone 2005 album and accompanying the group for a leg of the 2006 Vans Warped Tour. Upon his return from the road, Beach branched out on his own as a singer-songwriter inspired by American roots and folk music, and heavily influenced by Bob Dylan, Hank Williams Sr., The Band, and more contemporary artists like Jeff Tweedy. Beach’s first solo album, Christian Beach, was released in 2009. Music journalist Gary Wien ranked it as one of the top 100 albums by New Jersey artists between 2001 and 2010, with its lead track “Open Spaces” in the No. 77 slot among the top 100 songs by New Jersey artists in that same span. After 11 years, Beach released his follow-up project, a six-song EP titled DoubleLife that was released in early April 2020. On January 1, 2021, Beach is slated to release Basement Noise, a 13-song collection of refurbished demos of material recorded but never released in the decade between the two previous records.

Songs that question and sometimes throw rocks at the motivations of War, Politics and Religion. Also songs about songs. And songs about love, society and relationships. And a song about Pizza.

The first thing you should know about The Successful Failures is that any attempt to plug them into one genre or another is very much a fool’s errand. Hailing from New Jersey, the band deftly combines Americana, rock, roots, and enough of a dusting of bluegrass that serves as an appetizer to the main course without overwhelming the entire meal. TSF's 8th album, Pack Up Your Shadows, was released in 2020.

Michael Askin is an East Coast singer-songwriter whose songs of love, loss and redemption are heavily influenced by the sounds and melodies of the 70s Laurel Canyon scene. Michael has released four EPs as a solo artist, and has been gigging in the area for many years, either as a lead guitarist in several local bands, or as just a guy with an acoustic singing his heart out.

Keith McCarthy & Friends

[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Headline_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]
[siteorigin_widget class="SiteOrigin_Widget_Image_Widget"][/siteorigin_widget]

Keith McCarthy has been a fixture of the NJ shore music scene for 20 years. By the age of 10, he was playing multiple instruments and writing rock, country, and blues-influenced songs of his own. As the millennium opened, he made his way as an aspiring singer/songwriter/guitar-slinger in salty Long Beach Island bars, before eventually gravitating north to Asbury Park. After dissolving the rock four-piece "Keith McCarthy and The Works", he settled into the shore coffeehouse scene. Joining the quintessential NJ rock group "Maybe Pete" in 2007 led to the introduction to his partner, wife, and band-mate of 15 years Lindsey (Miller) McCarthy. With Johnny Macko (of Maybe Pete) on drums and Andrew Clelland on bass, they formed the alt-country quartet "The Sunday Blues," releasing their album "City Folklore '' in 2012. Produced by Arlan Feiles, the album featured McCarthy's guitar, vocal, banjo, harmonica, and keyboard contributions, and included some of his best known songs ("The Overthrow", "Tinted Windows", "Love By Numbers").

The group performed as the opening act for renowned acts such as Leon Russell, Larry Campbell & Teresa Williams, and Shovels & Rope. McCarthy was recognized for his guitar prowess at the 2009 Asbury Park Music awards, followed by another award for all-around instrumental work in 2013. Although activity has slowed down for the band since the start of the COVID19 pandemic, Keith has kept busy writing and recording at home for future projects.

Keith currently resides in Neptune City, NJ with Lindsey, his daughter Dylan Magnolia, and his canine-daughter Zoe Hazel.
