The Cucumbers
Jon Fried & Deena Shoshkes started The Cucumbers and found a home in the 80's indie pop scene in Hoboken, NJ. Their duo performances draw upon a deep songbook, effortless communication and feature intimate vocal harmonies and charming songs.
Their songwriting has been called "direct and artful," by the New York Times, "Deena's voice...incredible: kidstuff and wisdom merged," by the Village Voice. Their songs have been recorded by Jackson Browne, Dar Williams, Marshall Crenshaw and featured in films and on network TV.
At Porchfest Jon and Deena will perform songs about new love, old shoes, neighbors, social media, the weather, law and other topics large and small, accompanied by guitar and banjo.
